Witchy Wednesday No. 8
Hello all! Welcome back to our eighth Witchy Wednesday. This week’s reading comes from “The Starseed Oracle” by Rebecca Campbell (with artwork by Danielle Noel). I received her as a gift for my birthday and she jumped forward when I went to choose the deck for our reading this week.

Let’s see what messages are wanting to come forward from Spirit, our guides, and our wise and well ancestors!
Card#1

The first card of the reading this week is Surrender to the Sweetness. Two people are pictured basking in the beauty of the natural landscape that they are surrounded by. I find the imagery of the sparkling water to be particularly inviting and invigorating. The waters seem to offer renewal and rejuvenation. The sky is gorgeous and the flowers are in full bloom. I’m sure that if we walked up to dip our toes into the glistening waves, it would be a warm and soothing temperature, inviting you to sink in deeper.
Something unique about this deck that is not true of the others in my collection thus far is that it has keywords and phrases on the card itself. We see “Venus energy. Pleasure. Joy. Make love to life.” They reinforce the glorious, luxurious feminine energy of this card.
Turning to the guidebook for more inspiration we read that this card is “a call… to taste the fruits you’ve been working so hard to grow.” It goes on to expand its message saying that “many of us are so busy building our lives that we forget to enjoy them. We forget why we decided to build them in the first place.” There is an invitation to have your cake and eat it too. To no longer tell yourself that you can have that good thing later. You are worthy of all of the amazing things in life now. How might you be able to indulge in life and live more fully from this place of pleasure and joy?
Venus may also be calling for you to connect with her. Venus works around themes of love, beauty, and the feminine and her day of the week is Friday. You may feel pulled to set out an offering for her this Friday and answer her bid for connection.
(If you are looking for ideas for an offering that you could make to Venus, choose objects or foods that are luxurious or decadent such as your fanciest necklace, dark chocolate, or wine. You may also light a pink, red, or white candle, write her a poem or a note, or introduce yourself out loud. The sky's the limit with making an offering or building an altar for a planet/ goddess/ deity).
Card #2

The second card for our reading this week is Your Life is a Canvas. Pictured is a woman walking across an expanse of mountains completely unbothered by the daunting task. She is standing on a peak, which feels like a turning point. She has done the work to get where she is now, and can scan the path ahead. We also see a stunning kaleidoscope sky with flowers weaved throughout its tapestry.
I am drawn to both the concrete and the abstract aspects of this card. The pairing is quite seamless and shows that there is beauty in both the known and the unknown. The keywords for this card are “Artist. Manifestation. Creative accountability.” This feels connected to the idea that you build your own reality. The world is as you see it through your tinted glasses. Do you look out into the world and want to crawl into a hole? As much as the rose tinted glasses get a bad wrap for being naive or ignorant, I think that they hold a certain level of power. How might you create the reality that you seek?
Along the same lines, you have the power to create community, art, and connection, even if you don’t go viral or become famous. You have the ability to change the lives of your loved ones, coworkers, and strangers passing along by brightly and boldly living life as your authentic self. This, though, takes conscious effort and accountability. How can you manifest your dreams by taking steps to live the life that you deserve?
Card #3

The last card of our reading this week is Weight of the World. A woman is basking in serene waters, her face calm and at peace. She is surrounded both by shining waters and glittering stars. The water has the same ethereal quality as the first card did.
For me, this card calls forward memories of being little, playing in the pool, and then needing to take a break. Instead of getting out of the water, I would just tip my head back and lay there floating. There is a lightness to this memory, which parallels the message of this card. The key words “Boundaries. Let it go. It’s not yours to carry,” feel like permission. Permission to release yourself from expectations, from shame, from how you are “supposed to be.” It also feels as though we are being invited to no longer carry the weight of other’s choices. The only person that you can change is yourself. If there is someone who is trying to blame you for their baggage or expects you to make them feel better for their choices, know that it is not your responsibility.
Take a step back and regroup. While it may be true that we each have responsibilities and people depending on us, do not allow others to take and take and take (or to dump and dump and dump). Life is mostly good and you do not deserve to be constantly burdened by the weight of it all. Let it go.
Reflection:
This week’s reading highlights the beauty of the human experience. It reminds us to not get lost in the monotony of the grind, but to look for places to create, relax, and enjoy. Our first card spoke of surrendering to the wonderful things in our world, while our last card urged us to let go of the shitty stuff. Both cards held the same message: you do not need to be burdened by life. There is wonder and possibility if we just make the effort to seek it. Your Life is a Canvas shows us that it is our decision to make this change. We can choose to keep mindlessly moving through life and bearing the weight of the world's sorrows OR we can release those skewed expectations and enjoy the life that we are working so hard for. So please, feel the sun on your face, go to that dance class, enjoy the Nutrageous bar, go on that vacation. We each only have one life, so let’s live it to the fullest!
